Our Story

As a junior in high school, I was constantly running on about six hours of sleep. I’d wake up at 7:00 AM already tired, and by the time I sat in class, the headaches and lack of focus always kicked in.

Like most students, I tried resting my head on my crossed arms, hoping it would help. Instead, it was uncomfortable, left marks on my face, and honestly made my head hurt even more. And it wasn’t just me — I saw other students doing the same thing without a hoodie, which is basically asking for acne, irritation, or even early wrinkles from pressing your face on a hard desk all day.

One of my friends would always wake up with his face bright red from sleeping on his arms almost as red-as-a-tomato Seeing that every day really made me realize how common and uncomfortable this problem is.

So, I decided to fix it.

I designed a hoodie with hidden, built-in arm pillows. It looks completely normal, but it gives you actual support when you rest your head on your arms. No pressure, no red marks, no acne risk, and nothing that makes teachers think you brought a pillow to school.

That’s how Velara started: a simple idea to make long, tiring school days a little more comfortable for everyone.
